Dear Representative/Senator/Title (add name here),
I AM REACHING OUT TO ASK FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF HOUSE BILL 6672, “AN ACT CONCERNING ENDOMETRIOSIS”, WITH FRIENDLY AMENDMENT LCO#7311, AND THE ASSOCIATED PROGRAM FUNDING CURRENTLY INCLUDED IN THE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE BUDGET.
Endometriosis is a chronic condition that affects 200 million female-born individuals worldwide, 6.5 million in the United States, and one out of 10 in Connecticut. It causes debilitating pain, systemic inflammation, anxiety, depression, and bladder and bowel dysfunction, and is the leading cause of hysterectomy among those assigned female at birth of reproductive age, and is associated with infertility and cancer.
Despite the huge prevalence and associated burden, much is still unknown about it to this day, and endometriosis research suffers significant gender disparity in funding. As a result, the disease has no definitive treatment or cure, is often misdiagnosed, diagnosed in advanced stages (on average between seven to 10 years after the first symptoms begin), or missed altogether.
I applaud the Public Health and Appropriations Committees for their action to address the unmet clinical needs of this highly invasive, female-dominant disease, and improve awareness and health outcomes in the state of Connecticut. As my state [representative/senator], I ask that you support of HB 6672 and associated funding.
Thank you!

If the bill does not get raised for a vote in both the House and Senate Chambers by then, it will die and we will have to start the process all over, from square one, next year.
